Athletic Center - Gymnasium, Wellness Center, child watch, indoor track, group exercise room, locker rooms, conference room, multi-purpose room and administrative offices. Google Map and Directions Family Center - Junior Olympic swimming pool, child care facilities for children 16 months – seventh graders, HAGS playground and Premier tennis courts. The major programming areas of the Altavista Area YMCA are; child care, fitness, wellness, sports, aquatics, seniors and the Altavista Arts Council.

Welcome to the Altavista Area YMCA web site in Altavista, Virginia. The Altavista Area YMCA was founded in 1971 making the community of Altavista the smallest town in America with a YMCA. Today the YMCA encompasses almost three city blocks and over 65,000 square feet of facilities valued at over $6 million dollars. The physical complex consists of the Family Center built in 1972 and the Athletic Center constructed in 1994. |

Current Support Campaign...................... The Current Support Campaign has officially begun with this year's goal $125,000. Volunteers will be contacting potential donors and soliciting gifts in the next few weeks. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the YMCA please stop by the Athletic Center to pick up a pledge card and brochure. New classes November 11,18, December 2,9,16, 23 6:30- 7:30 p.m. Athletic Center David Inman Instructor Family Center Security System to be Installed.... To provide better safety and security for the Family Center and it's child care programs, a new security system will be installed. Starting August 25 all Family Center participants must use the main entrance. Altavista YMCA/Arts Council....
Art Exhibit.... The YMCA is proud to present the paintings of Bernice Johnson in the Athletic Center throughout the fall. Bernice is one of the area's best known artist and has graciously agreed to display 29 pieces of work at the YMCA. An artist's reception will be held to honor Bernice and local author Alma Rountry on Sunday December 14 from 2-4 p.m.
